Vernolab was established in 1977 and is a specialist, international used oil testing organisation. With the purchase of Vernolab by SGS in 2004, the existing Redwood Oilscan service was transferred into the Vernolab business to create SGS Vernolab. Used oil testing is a cost saving, preventative maintenance tool that can be used by many different industries, e.g. energy, transport, construction, mining etc. It operates as an early warning system enabling industry to both minimise oil repair and maintenance costs while maximising production through scheduling downtime. In the same way a doctor takes blood to pinpoint health problems, SGS Vernolab, through sophisticated laboratory analysis of used lubricant, can determine both the condition of your machinery and the longevity of your oil. Regular monitoring of the chemical and physical changes in a lubricant taken from a piece of equipment, e.g. engines, gearboxes, compressors, turbines, transformers, hydraulic systems etc. can provide an early warning of potential failures. With our twin laboratory in France, we report on over 1,000 used lubricant sample samples per day performing over 20,000 individual tests. To achieve the required 24-48 hour turnaround time we utilise modern automation and robotic systems and adopt efficient processing systems There are many different industries and types of customer that benefit from this innovative cost effective service ;
